Use any team to win the World Series and be the number one team. To do this easily, start a season with any amount of games, any amount of innings, and set play-offs to 1-1-1. Set user control to all teams, and sim all games in season. Once in the play-offs (post season), sim all games except for the World Series. Choose "Play" at the World Series pre-game screen. Use the "Home run" and "Strike out" codes to quickly win the World Series and unlock World Showdown (in the "Load" option at the main menu). The special teams are: World, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, USA, Legends, and EA Sports Dream Teams.

Hit a homerun with a pitcher in season mode to unlock Babe Ruth as a free agent. The easiest way to do this is to play a game in two player mode and have your opponent allow you to hit an in the park home run with a pitcher. This can also be used to unlock other players that have a homerun requirement.
Throw ten consecutive strike outs or pitch a shutout in season mode to unlock Cy Young as free agent.
Strikeout the other team five consecutive times.
Throw a shut out in season mode and both will be a free agents. Note: You have to throw two shutouts to get both of them.

Hit a ground rule double in season mode to unlock Jimmie Foxx as a free agent. Alternately, hit the foul pole while batting or get 8 RBIs by one player in a game.
Hit a cycle with one player or win 117 games in a season.
Hit a home-run with a player that is shorter than 5'7" to unlock Mel Ott as a free agent. Alternately, hit a grand slam during the World Series.

When you begin drafting with or without the points cap, you can get a better team by drafting the worst player you can in the following positions: SS, 3rd, RF, and five pitchers. This should be done because there are eight players on the free agent list who will help you while trading to get the players you want. These players are:
